I think "self-absorbed" is more appropriate than "smug" . Smug pregnant women are those who get pregnant easily and then brag about it, (usually to other women who have fertility issues or have experienced pregnancy loss). I don't think all pregnant women are smug, especially not those women who have struggled through infertility or miscarriages. Some pregnant women are highly sensitive to the fact that other women are suffering from fertility issues or miscarriage.
