My friend (a German) did the TOEFL whilst doing an internship in Paris. He did not prepare for the test and he got 116 points. Not bad, huh? I guess there are people who have less difficulty than others...

I don't totally agree with the advice. I speak a mixture of English, Mandarin and Malay everyday but still manage to score high in the TOEFL. I scored a total of 114 for the Ibt test. To me it's not all about not speaking your language because your native language is part of your culture and pride.

I see your point. Practicing conversational English is very important, just as much as studying. However, stop speaking one's language completely is a bit unrealistic for most, specially if your first language is Spanish.lol

wherever!you look so sweet!
The secret for a high TOEFL score is to practice on computer based tutorials and to take the computer base test.If what you want is to speak well, you have to study too. There is not other way out, if you wanna burn that fat, you gotta exercise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clearly, you have old school beliefs. I have taught TOEFL for many years and yes, if someone wants to sit in front of a computer for hours, he/she will get a higher TOEFL score. Kaplan, where I taught for years, has these tutorials. However, from my experience, for the time spent, it's just as important, if not more important, to practice speaking English. All of my students with the highest TOEFL scores stopped speaking their own languages.
