This is a very nasty virus that is running rampant on the internet as of January 2010. In many cases people have lost their entire computer to it so it's a really bad one. Be sure to go to the link below and read the instructions very carefully. Also be sure to follow the instructions exactly as they are stated. That will help you fix this issue and get it off of your computer.

This should also work on Desktop Security virus and Desktop Defender Virus.

Here is the link to the article:
http://www.softsailor.com/how-to/13827-how-to-uninstall-remove-internet-secur...

Here is the link to malwarebytes which is free and you will need this to fix the problem:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Step 1: Go here and download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for free. Save the file to your desktop. If Internet Security 2010 does not allow you to download anything, you should download the setup on another computer and use an USB stick or a CD/DVD to transfer the files needed. Remember to place the setup file on the desktop.

Step 2: Click here to download the rkill.com file.

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/rkill.com

Once the download is complete, run it. The rkill.com file will make sure the Internet Security 2010 will be closed for good so it does not interfere with the removal process.

Step 3: Close all open applications and windows. You now should be on the desktop.

Step 4: Run the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware setup from the desktop.

Step 5: Go with the default settings during the install. CRUCIAL: Make sure you tell the software to automatically update itself (theres a box you need to check during the install to make that happen). In addition, make sure you tell MBAM to automatically launch itself once the install and update processes are complete.

Step 6: When Malwarebytes Anti-Malware loads, go to the Scanner screen, select Perform Quick Scan and then click the Scan button.

Step 7: When the scan is complete, press the Show Results button under the main Scanner tab.

Step 8: Check all the detected infections (so you remove both Internet Security 2010 and all related Trojans, as well as any other malware detected).

Step 9: When the removal process is complete, a log of the scan will be displayed in a Notepad window. You now have successfully removedInternet Security 2010, all related Trojans and any other infections detected by Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

  • I have the virus security defender, and now i got internet security too, as soon as i click to open a application it closes. :/

  • @AkiiRyuuha cheers for the reply, I've fixed it already using a different technique but thanks anyway!

  • Just a note - Some good anti-virus programs are: Kaspersky, avast!, Malwarebytes (of course), Avira, and Bitdefender. I don't recommend Norton, because it likes to ignore the really bad infections and call out safe programs. It also has the habit of burrowing into your system so that it takes the jaws of life to get it out.

No matter what, you have to make sure that whichever program you have is up-to-date, because in teh internetz 24 hours can make a huge difference.

  • @jackyboi342534563 You need to turn off your computer and then turn it back on. The second you see ANY picture appear on the screen (windows flag/swirly lights, loading bar, etc) IMMEDIATELY begin tapping f8. Keep tapping it until it brings up a black and white screen asking how you want to start the computer.

Start it in Safe Mode WITH networking. Then follow the steps in this video.

  • Thank you so much for this! This was the only thing that I could get to work!

  • I cant actually run anything from my infected laptop, so i cant run Rkill, can someone help?

  • Spybot search and destroy!

  • Hey guys... i did diferent.

Just turn off your computer, go to safe starter, then at the task maneger turn off the viruses process (you may recognise him as "someshortname".exe). then just full scan your pc with your antivirus. ^^

  • Note to all...Rkill works wonders on viruses.

  • Somebody needs to come up with law suit or put them in jail.
