  • That was the BEST sitcom there ever was (at least before Phil Hartman was killed)!

  • They talk about him on the commentary for "Lucky Burger". He was an extra who apparently thought the show was live & wanted to get himself on TV, so he kept deliberately walking in front of the principle actors, & in one case, wandered onto the WNYX set.

They eventually fired him & continued filming.

  • @jeshface Still the stuff about Dave Foley I did not know. And you are probably right that it was one of the leading causes of his hair graying and other health problems.

  • @eternal0star not that i doubt phil's death was a huge loss for every life he touched, andy had been doing drugs for years before this. in fact, he hooked phil's wife brynn up with the coke that would inevitably lead to phil's death. dave was going through insane marital troubles at this point. i'm not trying to play down phil's death. it was absolutely a terrible, terrible loss and i'm sure they were all still grief-stricken. just a few extra tidbits for yas. :)

  • Man you can really see how much the death of Phil Hartman affected the people there. Look at Dave Foley, his hair grayed out A LOT between Season 4 and 5 (it was already starting to gray but it easily doubled in amount.) And Andy Dick obviously lost some weight and was starting to do drugs, look at how drawn and gaunt his face becomes over the course of season 5.

  • "Cathartic, oh thats a big word for for a pie-eyed drunk.

  • lol gotta love maura!

  • Ditto-- I have the whole series on DVD, and Season 5 was a bit of a turnaround after Jon Lovitz joined the cast. It never quite had that snap after Phil Hartman passed away...

  • No, this guy also thought the show was live & was trying to attract attention to himself.

The diffrence is that unlike in "Our 50th Episode" (which was the mental-insititution), this clueless extra never made it on the air.

Seriously, listen to the commentary for "Lucky Burger". Stephen Root talks about the incident in detail.
