A sound video with music composed and realized by Arthur Stammet in September 2004

This sound video is a meditation about life. Themes like repetitions and changings, the driving craft for all living system which is evolving in continuity, are visualized in this 3D-animation with music composed while mounting the movie using previously recorded patterns. The principle of minimal music, where repetitions with very few changes mark the evolution of a composition, was here applied to animated pictures too.

Life in this movie isn't visualized by the reproduction of a living system, using a great level in abstraction by animating a very simple and perfect geometric shape: the cube. One cube divides into eight cubes learning to rotate around several axes: their own and the center of the whole system. The same procedure of division applied to each one of the eight cubes gave me a system of 64 cubes with a very great complexity of movements. Doing so, I had the opportunity to show the essence of several important aspects of life avoiding the danger of anecdotal interpretation of my means: "Repetition in changings", the great title of the work, procreation in similarities and cloning, learning. With its abstract shape this movie allows me to show what humans cannot do, because they are too different and their aims are too various.

Even if the music uses similar elements as the animation it is much more complicate than the pictures. Its simplicity and level of abstraction consists in the fact that it is repetitive and uses very few really composed elements.
