4/5 Are We Alone In The Universe?

For fifty years, the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence has been scanning the galaxy for a message from an alien civilisation. So far to no avail, but a recent breakthrough suggests they may one day succeed.
Horizon joins the planet hunters who've discovered a new world called Gliese 581 c. It is the most Earth-like planet yet found around another star and may have habitats capable of supporting life. NASA too hopes to find fifty more Earth-like planets by the end of the decade, all of which dramatically increases the chance that alien life has begun elsewhere in the galaxy.

Are you really wondering? Because you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. People have a way of ignoring scientists when the truth proves inconvenient.

My personal reason for being so interested in the search for intelligent life is that I've found precious little of it so far.

Personally, I believe that some, myself included, interpreted this the wrong way. Now I realize that if we find water on another planet, life is more likely to exist there as well, even though water is not the only thing capable of enabling life. I hope that at least a couple of misunderstandings have been cleared out.

i saw something which looked like a scene out of a scifi movie. EIther my own mind tricked me into thinking something unusual or unfamiliar, to myself of earth origin was from somewhere else or what i saw really was what i thought it was. YOu know that gut feeling you get when you are seeing something that you cannot believe is happening well this is how i felt. there have been found small life forms and a planet there look like earth whit water there is blue and green so thats is a prove on life but no one knows about there is any intelligent life out there but one thing is sure if there is intelligent life out there their ships will 100% not look like that we call a ufo

the reason why they are looking for a planet that have water is that life is more likely to exist. For us, water is an important factor that contribute to the existence of life and sustaining it. Water also have the ability to encourage elements/matter to bond which make it possible for basic life structure to exist and evolve.

@TheCottonTop People think earth and humans are so special because we are so alone in the comos. But neither of those things are true. The life that visits here is perfectly happy just observing us. Just like a human walking though a field would glance over one ant hive and compair it to the next. Life is so abundant and their methods of travel so advanced. That their visits here would be like us walking though a park or just sitting and watching TV or YouTube.

@Rodian666 We know that itelligence not from earth has already found us. It is a game they play. They wan't us to seek them out and make first contact. We have to learn how to work togather to reach the stars and find them. If they just came here and shared all their technology with us, there would be no beneft to them and it would not benefit us in the long run either. We as a people have to figure out our own problems and seeking them out, becoming our own self made star fairing race.
