Hi all,

This was recorded last Sunday (5/7/09) when we were testing our Royal Mail (Hornby code=R4155) Travelling Post Office coach. The apparatus was set up between Grantham Station and Ashford Junction. The locomotive is ex-GWR 4-6-0 68XX Grange Class No6862 "Derwent Grange". The locomotive is running at SPEED...as you will notice in the video! The signals were cleared all the way down the line so that the train could very fast but still not risk any danger of derailment or collision.

The train rake was:-
*LMS Brake Coach
*3xLMS Composite Coaches
*R4155 Mail Coach
*Airfix Autocoach W197

We hope you enjoy the video and any comment's are welcome.

Enjoy!

  • does this come with track that you have to incorporate into your layout to work, or does it just come with bits that clip in to existing track?- i would like one but my layout is permanent so i cant take it up. anyway, nice vid and layout.

  • Sorry for late reply. It comes with special pieces which clip to the trackwork. No need to take up any track.

  • You layout is outside, how do you stop it rusting?

  • it doesnt rust.its standard silver hornby track and so is weather proof.

  • Ive got one in the loft! not ran it for years, excellent fun watching it, its all in the timing :)

  • Definately...

  • Love the TPO

    Suggestion.

To avoid the blurred effect what happens of you run the train more slowly rather then decreasing the speed of the video? used to see the TPO trains at Ipswich although catching equipment had been taken out fo service. Hope yo like the video responce.

    Good luck.

  • Great video there. I've got a model railway too, only its indoors. I've got some videos of it. It's called the Littlebrook Valley Railway (LVR). I will be posting a new video of my railway on Friday or Saturday.

  • Brilliant I have often wondered how well they work, it seems very well.

  • No problem at all. It's always nice to hear from people enjoying our videos.
