18 year-old Japanese knuckleballer Eri Yoshida became the first woman to start a professional baseball game in the U.S. on May 29, 2010. This video shows her facing her first batter, who reached on a bunt, and her first AB, in which she hit a single with bases loaded, thereby also getting her first RB!. GO ERI!!!!!
@vincelavalle - Thank you for the correction. I thought Ile had only started in college and had pitched from the BP in the minors.

Slight correction on the historic annotation. Eri isn't first woman to start a pro game (Ila Borders did that 12 years ago). She IS the first woman to start a pro game in two countries and is the youngest woman to start a game (Borders was 23 at her first start).
Nonetheless, a bright future ahead for this young lady. And not a bad role model in Tim Wakefield, either.

@sakurabathegreat - It seems so. She went 4 innings her second start and struck out a batter. She is only 18, so we'll see what happens. Not much velocity, but great movement. Hope she continues to improve. She'll definitely get stronger and smarter.
