Now got a 'race prepped' Prather 275 on the boat. I've also got a 280 to try but we didn't get a chance in this run. Still some tweaking but doing pretty good for a line trimmer!

  • i am curently working on a very simaler boat got plans and ideas from the stuff on your website. got any tips

  • @jayc888x If you're looking at using a ryobi engine as i have, then try to look for a newer generation one. These have twin piston rings and a stronger con-rod. Better compression and they don't explode over 8000rpm. I'm still having problems with my exhaust coupling too - I have not yet been able to find something reliable. There's not much too them...

  • did you tune the engine yourself? what mods did you make to it?

  • The engine is internally stock apart from using a newer twin ring piston (which also has a better con-rod). External mods are Machined flywheel, Walbro WT-257 carb, water cooled head and the tuned pipe. I've also heli-coiled most of the bolt holes for more strength. Check out my other vids and the site for better pics.

  • thats cool. you should try and do a vid of the engine.. anyhows im 50-50 about moding my engine. first would be lighten the flywhell, them big fan blades knock a huge amount of RPM of the engine. or just buying a ZENOAH G260PUM and a tune pipe.

  • The zenoah is always going to be better in every way you look at it other than the dollars you shell out. Most Ryobi engines can be had for a few dollars. My boat is for fun, not for racing so i don't really care. My flywheel is only about 30mm thick and it does make a big difference but you need to keep the head in the air flow or water cool it.
