Instead of writing a paper for my Astronomy class at San Jose State, I asked if I could do something art related. After some research and some proposed ideas I came to the conclusion to model, light, animate, and render a Japanese Satellite called Hayabusa, document it's journey to a near-by Asteroid named Itokawa, and also document it on it's journey back home.
Unfortunately I was a bit too ambitious and could only achieve part of the desired plan. Due to time I had to cut back the project to a nice camera move over earth and a video that highlights the Hayabusa.
On and off the project took about a month to two months.
I used Maya 2009, and Photoshop
The project took 3 days to render on one machine.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the result.
sorry man a 41 sec intro i am out of here at 42 secs

@LinZeeLinuz That's perfectly understandable... that's why I posted the same video without the long intro.

@draqonofwhitestars That's very true there is no way I could had done this in 3 days. Instead it took me a couple weeks to get it completed, it took 3 days to render, not to model.
