@aboutdabomb but at the same time those missiles are protecting Poland and the Chec Republic! do some resurch besides this and you might understand why this is important not only to the U.S. but also to all the U.S.'s allies and the countries that remain nutrual!!

the one problem with missile defence against nukes coming in from orbit is that by the time you shoot them out of the sky they'll be armed and will set off a nuke explosion! and though we might not be hit by theshock wave or most of the radiation; we would get hit by the EMP! and that would be just as bad if not worse because it would wipe out comps and all tech without shielding!

The particular wavelengths of the High energy Laser beams will destroy any mirrored coatings on a missile. To be reflected the lasers optics are made with special coatings and finishes that have to exactly match the laser so they don't heat up and burn.

Seriously though I was wondering because I've heard it before. Is that effective, reflective balistic missiles? The original MDI used space based mirrors for it's lasers as well. I mean if defeating those laser is that simple the money may be better spend on kinetic weapons than ABL as James Bond-esque awesome as it may be.

not really man, a number of countries REALLY do depend on the USA for protection, and if the US didnt garentee their protection then the seperate countries would all spend double the amount on the defence forces, which would intimidate other countries, causing arm races and even more paranoia.
To name a FEW of the countries that depend in America - Australia, the Philipines, New Zealand, Poland, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and quite a few other European Countries...
