Bolivia is Latin America's poorest country, and has no free national health service. As millions of families live in poverty with dangerous conditions, many children suffer severe burn injuries.
The UK registered charity Que Rico supports the burns unit in Cochabamba, Bolivia, to ensure that children with severe burn injuries receive the treatment, care and rehabilitation they so desperately need.
In the summer of 2008, Jaime Rees headed out Cochabamba to work at the hospital as a volunteer and saw at first hand the horrendous difficulties facing both the Medical staff and victims.
On June 20th 2009, Jaime and 5 friends will walk from Llangennech in South Wales to the peak of Snowdon. The volunteers will cover 140 miles over 8 days, in order to raise awareness and funds to help Que Rico support these unfortunate children.
£40 will allow for life saving surgery.
£5 will buy vital pain relief medicine and medical equipment.
£2 will buy enough food to feed a child for a whole week.
£1 will buy children essential items of clothing.
Financially, these are difficult times for us all... but let's not forget those who are a lot worse off.
