This is me and my 1971 Martin D28 (which I bought new) loaded with Lifespan medium phosphor bronze strings. In the background you'll see a Tascam recorder. Off screen are speakers. I recorded another guitar track and a bass track (both played myself) and harmony vocals (myself). These other instruments appear sonically while I sing the lead live and play rhythm live [ including the screwup ;-) ]. This seems to be within the rules.

I wrote & recorded this song the day the contest opened and tried to enter it that evening on Jan 2. However, the song was barely over 2 minutes and in the upload to youtube it somehow ended up at 1:59, just shy of the requirement. Hopefully you'll see this in the contest now. I hope you enjoy my song.

  • Thanks to you both. I'm glad you like the song. I was pretty happy with the way it turned out, although I'm not nuts about my video. Not my forte.

    Thanks again!!

  • Great job, Dave...if this Martin contest was based solely on the strength of the writing and performing and the relevance to the topic (and not who has the most social networking skills) you would win hands down.

  • Nice work Kentucky Dave.......... good luck.
