What is Interesting here is the cyclical pulses of the vortex shown by the regular thinning of the ink . Have you tried varying the speed of the vortex to see if this changes the length of the pulses?

I have done several experiments with different colour inks to show the fast inner flow through and the slower moving outer cylinders. I havent been able to film these yet, but I will get a tripod soon and that will help show some of the internal structure, that is sooo beautiful, detailed and elegent. There is so much more going on in the vortex than I ever dreamed of....more to come. John
