NEW YORK, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Hip-hop culture and controversy have always made for familiar bedfellows. Yet, in the wake of the Imus controversy and in a year when the genre's sales have tumbled, hip-hop finds itself under an exceptional amount of scrutiny and pressure -- and the stakes have never been higher. BET NEWS takes a powerful and compelling look at the state of hip-hop today in a three-part series titled HIP HOP vs. AMERICA. Hosted by BET's own Toure and Jeff Johnson, this special showcases a candid, heated forum that will allow audiences to hear the opinions of prominent leaders in the hip-hop industry, the political realm, academia and the Black church

  • @last9emperor No Black person in America is 100% Black...he's more "Black" than most Black people in this country percentage wise. However, they really don't have to care about what white ppl think. White music business heads are going to buy into the Black community/culture b/c they want to make money. PERIOD. They'll sign u, call u a n****r, all while taking the money you earned them to they bank. IE: Hip hop!

  • @lyricalgza yeah you right about that but everybody during that time was wearing them silly glasses and doing that dumb dance SMH lol!

  • 5:45 i'm not white but yea u do have to care about what white ppl think. hate to say it but the white men runs the country. Yea Obama is president but that's one branch of power. There's more to the country then just the president. And ppl forget that Obama isn't 100% black he still is half white.

  • all black people don't eat chicken smh....
