Two thumbs up for this

I have sung it only once, in a cathedral and it was a wonderful piece to perform. We didn't analyse it or theorise we just acted as conduits for the genius of Mozart. Quite sublime.

@LocutusBorgOf Films are often dramatized. Never judge the movie, judge the source.

This is very beautiful, and thankyou moltoallegro19. All I know is that Mozart was truly inspired and he wrote some of the most exquisite music of all time. I trust that this is a respectful comment.

@moltoallegro19 But some of Amadeus's things are true. Salieri did go nuts and said he murdered Mozart (Obiously not true) but he did said he killed Mozart so accounting for historical accuracy, it is actually right in some points

I'm playing this for an orchestra concert. It would be a lot cooler if we had a choir to sing the words though....
PLEASE, COULD PEOPLE WHO DO NOT ACTUALLY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MOZART'S REQUIEM STAY AWAY FROM COMMENTING AS IF THEY KNEW SOMETHING OTHERS DO NOT. Mozart's Requiem is one of the most enigmatic works in the history of music and its history is a complex one, and you certainly do not qualify as an expert because you've seen Amadeus. Such stupid theories and misconceptions I've seen here! Based on nothing else than lack of information and people believing in what they see on the movies.

@moltoallegro19 To be fair, the screenplay for Amadeus was greatly influenced by Pushkin's poem "Mozart and Salieri". Instead of Hollywood filmmakers creating theories and misconceptions about historical figures, they're at least using theories and misconceptions that have been around from a time within the 30-40 years following Mozart's death (if not even earlier). The fact that there are apocryphal myths surrounding the creation of this piece just accentuates how brilliant the Requiem is.

@BiologicalClock That doesn't matter, the rumours about Salieri's potential involvement in the death of Mozart was nothing more than rumours back then either and it had no connection to the writing of this requiem. A few decades after he was gone nobody seriously believed Salieri had anything to do with it. These rumours were stupid gossip back then and were later revived for us to become stupid gossip of today. Anyone who today believes it needs to be rebuked and enlightened.
