http://facebook.com/standwitharizona NPR takes a "balanced" look at AZ's ban on "ethnic studies" courses in state high schools that takes effect 12/31/2010. Unfortunately NPS is a little too balanced towards the bad guys, as they fail to offer any examples of what was actually taught. For an idea of that, see former teacher John Ward's (Ward is Hispanic) disturbing account here: http://tucsoncitizen.com/morgue/2008/05/21/85853-guest-opinion-raza-studies-g...

  • Why does there need to be an ethnic studies class when all the kids there or their parents came from Mexico anyways? They should be more concerned about American studies.

  • Good for Arizona. I'm sick of segments of our society dictating to us ALL. Look to San Bernardino County, CAL. We have a Hispanic Congressman who lives and breathes nothing but Hispanic to the extent he blocks INS attempts to arrest and investigate Hispanic trespassers; otherwise, known as "illegal immigrants".

  • All negative remarks here are based on fear. These classes teach kids that there's Native and Chicano authors. These classes empower the spirit and mind of the brown skinned, which in turn frightens a lot of whites. I stand with the brown Arizona, and also with the white Arizona who understands. I stand next to you whites, not as a minority, but as an equal. If that frightens you, that's your problem.

  • I used to just play around in my ethnic study classes they were fucking stupid and pointless

  • lol @ the white Americans on this thread...smh

So basically this is a ban on an important segment of history, because white people don't like to hear the atrocities that whites have been responsible for in American history? How classy. The course is being called racist..Idk why. If they are teaching the truth, it's not racism...It's just the truth. \_(o.o)_/

    so weak

  • @HybridD91 - Take a closer look at what these kids are studying!

... Remember the 4 nasty things Mexican Studies teaches. 1) Overthrowing the US Gov. 2) Promote resentment towards a race or class of people. 3) Designed to specifically benefit a single ethnic group. 4) Advocate Ethnic solidarity instead of treating pupils as individuals.

WHO wants to publicly debate me on this?

  • @HybridD91 OH PUHLEEZE..it was liberal democrats that started the KKK and lynching.

  • @HybridD91 *who came

  • @computerpurple So, were the genocidal Europeans on came to America liberals? What about the conservatives who were lynching blacks and mistreating Mexicans in the West? Were they liberals? People like you are the reason why ethnic studies exist, you're ignorant.

  • @Shn1fty They learn about Mexicans in US history. I take it you don't know much about "ethnic studies".
