  • Hmm, I'm not sure I like that effect. It doesn't look realistic to me.

It looks more like the graphics are corrupted - look at the upper wing at 0:08, it looks like little chunks are being cut out of it, like the droplets themselves are invisible and all you can see is the resulting distortion.

  • True, it does look strange, but also the video doesn't do it justice, even in YouTube's HD resolution. If you download the avi from the video description you can see it in much better quality.

And *I'm* sorry that a two year old comment making a minor critique of a shader effect in a thirty second gameplay video prompted you to make assumptions about a complete stranger's intelligence. I freely admit that I am not an expert on this subject, and readily defer to your wisdom, O`Wise One. :D

  • @urizen123 you're extremely [not smart], a compressed video footage can never accurately capture in-game shader effects.

also, you're not paying attention, again a sign of slowness when you say the droplet effects are invisible. you can clearly see the outlines.

    sorry.

  • He has low graphic options enabled. With all in max options, I say, it is really awesome

  • I used to wear glass goggles on my Bike and this gives a fair reresentation of what its like when its raining! It doesnt give you the effect of needles stabbing your face from the rain smaking you into your face at speed! No fail here!

  • well fs9 with REX is looking better ;D

  • The idea with the raindrops on the goggles is really cool.

I just read Manfred von Richthofen's book "The red combat fighter" and one chapter is about how he once flew through a thunderstorm.

Something "reckless and unwise" he said of that he would never ever do again "except my fatherland asks me to".

In the storm ,he took the goggles off as with the rain on them ,he saw even less than without them. :-D

  • Too bad Flight Simulator X doesn't look half this good.

  • I think it was like that because the pilot was wearing some kind of pilot glasses. And when the rain hit them, you had to see through the water.

There are no fail in the scenario at 0:26-0:30

  • To me it just looks like the raindrops are hitting the pilots goggles. obviously as they run off the goggles things in the point of view or line of sight will distort. I think it looks good.

just have to remember the goggles are what the rain is hitting.
