@profusions Hi thanks for the information.I don't think the I.D.F and I are going to share a roof anytime soon - although I will bear the Sarl-el organisation in mind! I agree Jerusalem is amazing (and that's from someone who is not even religious!)However given the choice I'd still reckon on living in Tel-Aviv!

@profusions -thanx-but the REAL thnx goes to Israel/ IDF- t/only ones who REALLY know the mindset/nature of t/ fight. I've lived in "Islamic enclaves' (poor,3rd World ones).and what are they concerned about t/most?-SEX. They look at how free/proud/beautiful your women are, look at their own. can you spell JEALOUS? Want to end the struggle? Send a boatload of Vegas hookers, tell the men to leave t/guns behind, live on boats-discuss-evaluate their beliefs, and NO MORE HEZB>Hamas! Islam=anti-life!

I also heard that when you are with them and if you are traveling around on days off, there are perks for lodging etc for Sar El volunteers, throughout Israel.

Ah so you have been! Maybe send me a message privately and we can discuss. I am Canadian and there are people here where I live that have been; they loved the experience. $100 to register is a pittance (I wasn't aware of it), it must go to help maintain the office administration. I'd gladly pay it.
I wasn't aware that this is tax deductible!! I would think it is for Canadians too.

@Lagolop Just to note, there is a small registration charge of about $100 or so.
They do feed you, clothe you and house you for free during the work week for as long as you volunteer.
However, the whole experience is tax deducible for U.S. citizens, including airfare, living expenses on weekends, etc.

@revol148 Go to vfi-usa.org and look over the program and schedule. Last year over 1,600 Americans volunteered, including a percentage of non-Jewish people.
Overall, it's a blast. And Tel Aviv is "wild" only compared to Jerusalem which is in a universe of its own.
