Power save units as well as other "whole house power factor correctors" are a scam. They do not save home owners any money on their power bills. Home owners are billed for Kilowatt hours not kilovolt amps. Power factor correctors do NOT reduce kilowatt hour consumption. It's complete hogwash. Watch the video.

  • Has anyone placed a Kvar unit in there homes? If so email i have a few question to ask........thanks firedeptofficeremt@yahoo.com

  • @George422fd Yes, that is what this whole video is about. No observable savings.

  • By just watching this video and the condition of your electrics I can understand

what your problem is. Go back to the drawing board or technical college.

    regards and good learning..........

    leo

  • @eliasgreco123 Oh really? Why don't you explain it then. What specifically is wrong withy my "electrics".

What specifically is wrong? Since you’re the expert here, I know you will have no problem answering.

  • @claudiacallejas Again with this damaged unit stuff. Look, the fact that the PF does change (as shown on the power quality analyzer) shows that the caps in the unit are working. There are no other parts inside the unit but 2 caps. Since we see the capacitance jump (in the form of PF change) we know that they are working. Seriously, this isn't rocker science. This is basic electrical theory.

  • Ok he is not testing this right. Funny not one box has been returned and all customers have seen a saving including my self of 20%! how could this be? Because it works! i went from averaging $180 a month down to $96-$97 a month with this unit. Everyone that I know that has one has seen savings in the next billing cycle!

  • I believe that your comments are not supported as the kvar shows a sustainable change lower could you be so kind to explain to the masses what that does to the cost of electricity, Oh by the way are you employed by an electrical power company, they charge on the use of the total of the used or unused from both legs, so have you been really honest with what you say?

  • nice tester!

  • Power factor correction is only really an industrial thing if the process uses a lot of inductive loads like motors and refrigeration equipment. They dont "save" you on your power bill, they help correct large instantanious loads that the meter wont pick up, but the power company WILL charge you for in increased electrical service size requirements and fees. This is not so much a scam as more just selling a product to unsuspecting consumers that have no use for it.

  • @zJoeB

If you still have this unit installed remove it, it is amplifying any electrical ac discharge as it does not have an inductive block or filter.

A capacitor on ac ac circuit reacts differently to a dc capacitor which can smooth out ripples.

The unit will amplify harmonics and spikes in the electrical system damaging electronics.

  • Hi

I have commented on youtube before on these units but they keep coming back.

I have worked with power factor correction for over 20 years.

Considering you are not an electrician you have shown it is a complete waste of time and money well done.

These units are available under €5 but are of no use for domestic meters.

If any body has one of these installed in the house remove it, it needs a blocking inductor. It is amplifying certain emisions and will cause damage to S.M. electronics.

  • There's a sales lady calling me repeatedly from this company. When I told her I needed to get it out she emailed me FAQ's about the product, lol. Ya, like I'm going to take their word at face value. I was true to my word and checked them out and after this video my answer will be, be "no" when she calls tomorrow.

  • The post below about a data logger/capacitors charging is bunk, BS,horse dump. Capacitors are charging and discharging instantly when connected to the line. Where do these guys come from? Makes me laugh...flywheel for your home...that's funny...

  • Thanks for posting. Good job. Stay the course, you have done well. These guys are scammers and/or know nothing about AC electricity. All they want is a quick buck from uninformed consumers. Have faith. Your analysis is correct. Of course those of us who do electronics already knew this since everything about power factor correction was already worked out prior to 1920. You can find it in the book "Alternating Current Machinery", McGraw-Hill, copyright 1916. Thanks again..
