in singapore, we are plied with all sorts of world ranking in the mass media which paints a extremely positive picture of the country and the leadership.aka PAP to reinforce in the singaporean mind that we are doing well. whenever this is done its a pat on the collective back and a numbing of the collective mind to be contented/happy stagnant.

what comes after stagnation, in the face of competition. an eventual decline.

Oh come on, don't be naive. Every government has its flaws. Show me a perfect government and I'll show you a pig with wings.
There is corruption in SG - big fat hairy deal, who gives a flying f#&k - take off your sunnies and look at the rest of the so-called 'free' countries with their underhanded, psychological control of the masses and honestly I'd prefer a gov that does something in my face I didn't like than wait until I'm screwed a thousands times over by a gov which smiled at mine.

I am a great admirer of Singapore, the only thing I like to push for is for Singapore to introduce and preserve the ethnic hokkian dialect because the Hokkian people are the history of Singapore in general.

These activists are biting the hand that feeds them. In the US, every citizen has to help pay national debts, amounting to trillions, via taxes. In Singapore, the taxes are low and there is peace which we all take for granted. These activists are protesting for something which already exists.
