Joe Szuecs designed and built the New Music Box, an automated musical instrument that blends old and new technology that produces percussive music through solenoid and a sequencer. At Maker Faire Bay Area 2011, the Music Box drummed rhythms, noise, and musical notes for passersby.

  • Why is there crappy music in the background of a video demonstrating a music instrument (of sorts)? Seems a bit disrespectful.

  • I stopped by Joe's table at Maker Faire NYC on Sunday as things were winding down. I brought a little friend with me from the Let's Make Robots table. Even though Joe wasn't around, we took the opporunity for a little impromptu jam session. I posted a video response, which will hopefully get approved.
