Nara Deer!

This is one of my videos I took while I was visiting Kyoto. The deer are said to have carried the god Takenomikazuchi. They were considered divine for a long time. They are now a national treasure and are protected. You can buy deer crackers or shika senbei. That is what I feed them in the video. I loved the deer! I thought they were the most fun part of the trip! There were little babies that were also very cute! The deer's antlers are cut because there are so many tourists. Once a year there is a festival in which they cut their antlers. They are very smart creatures! ^_^ I hope you enjoy!

Oh my gosh! I love the deer! When I was in Nara last year I think I spent two hours at the park just feeding and petting them, haha. They're kind of scary sometimes though! All that nipping. I hope you didn't get jumped on either!

I totally would have stayed there all day easily! I did get jumped but they were easy to control and very reasonable. ^_^ The woman selling the crackers told us to put up flat hands to keep them away and show them you had no more food and they would go away. I was amazed that they did so. The one at the beginning that tried to ram my camera person bit my tushy earlier before this video! They were so much fun though! ^_^

Aww, I really wanted to visit the Nara deer. I never got over to Kyoto while I was in Japan, though. :( Next time!
