Local Marketing Ideas: Feeding Your Business with Screamin Daily Deals
"Hi, I'm Niki and this is my place is Las Brisas Retreat. I've had it for just over a year. It's a nine bedroom house, five acres of land, and my big dream was to run yoga retreats. So I realized there's a lot of yoga retreats in California already but there's no songwriting retreats, there's no screenwriting retreats, there's no cooking retreats. So I decided I'm gonna try something a little different. If it's a cooking retreat then I hire a chef to come in, they do a cooking class. And if it's a screenwriting weekend I'll bring someone in that'll give a workshop on screenwriting so whatever the title is of the weekend."
What Other Local Marketing Have You Tried?
"At first I was doing meet up groups. I was doing a meet up for songwriters, a meet up for yoga, a meet up for raw food and then getting people like that. I'd done a little bit of magazine like print work and getting little stories in here and there but really I've got zero budget so I can't pay for advertising. So that's why the Screamin Daily Deal thing was so great because it's not costing me anything to run it."
Why Did You Decide to Try Screamin Daily Deals?
"And actually a lady approached me and she said, "Would you like to run a Screamin Daily Deals?" And I didn't even know what it was. So I was like, "Sure, that sounds good." And so she ran it for me and I was pretty overwhelmed. I'm like oh my gosh. I had no idea that it would sell so many. I had no idea."
How Was Your Screamin Daily Deals Experience?
"I think we had eight weeks of cooking back to back just sold out. And the first weekend that we ran one of those deals I think my website got 500 hits in one day. So I can't generate that kind of traffic just me. I figure that even if I'm taking a cut to run these retreats I would be spending that money on advertising anyway. So it all works out in the end. It was huge. I mean, and I sold some private retreats because people come to the website and they said, 'Oh, can we do a girl's group here?' Honestly I didn't think it through very much. She just said, 'Would you like to try this?' I'm like, 'Sure.' I had no idea. And I was pretty overwhelmed. When I saw that little thing going click, click, click, click, I'm like, 'Oh my God.' I mean, nicely overwhelmed in a good way. So it was like overnight success. That's how it felt. I mean, it was pretty amazing."
Would You Recommend Screamin Daily Deals to others looking for local marketing ideas?
"Oh my gosh, I would absolutely recommend it. So, I mean, for me it was just really easy because it's, you know, everything is set up for you and all you have to do is just do the thing you were setting out to do in the first place which is running the retreats. So I don't have to do anything different. And I presume you run all kinds of deals and I would say that, you know, for whatever business I'm sure it'll work because the advantage of it is you're putting out there to these thousands of people that we don't have access to. So, I mean, I'm sure it behooves any business to use it. I would just say thank you, thank you Screamin Daily Deals. Thank you very much. You boosted my business through the roof, you really did. And I plan to run as many things through you guys as I possibly can."
