In December 1989, the democratic opposition began meeting with the Communist government in East Germany to plan for the future - elections, a new constitution, membership in the Warsaw Pact or Nato, and other pressing matters. In this simulation, the political parties were reduced to just five and each had the opportunity to present and debate their respective agenda for East Germany's future. This event was a part of the UMass-Amherst campus events commemorating the 1989 fall of the Berlin Wall. For more information about the UMass campus events, see: http://blogs.umass.edu/berliner
