  • I don't think anyone talks into their hearing aid...... besides the way the two things are being held is totally different.

  • @wildersara Look at the very old styled telephone with a seperate talking part and a seperate hearing part, I have seen them many many times being used in old films and have never once seen the person remove the earpiece of the phone whilst talking into the stick talking/dialling part. What two things?

  • @stbricesday The way the hearing device is held is different from how the "woman" is holding this device. There were not phones at this time anyway.

  • @wildersara The telephone was invented in 1876 and Sara, you have missed the point of my mentioning a telephone completely. That "woman" is far more likely a woman than that telephone being a mobile phone or spaceship hailer or anything else other than a hearing device.......there is nothing mysterious about the film clip apart from folks' reluctance to let go of whacky ideas.

  • The "Sueddeutsche Zeitung" recently published an interview with the chief of the technical museum in Berlin. He said, that he cannot explain it at all, because there were no inventions like this in that time and obviously the woman speaks into the decline.

Besides: How can one explain, that the woman is wearing nylons although nylone have been invented 10 years later (in 1938) ? It remains mysterious.

  • @safarius2010 Rayon stockings were invented in the 1800's for women replacing silk which was expensive and which nylon replicates. Rayon stockings are indistinguishable from nylon though not as comfortable. If you are having a conservation you do not want to miss a word by removing your hearing aid, she is most likely talking to someone off view of the small area covered by film, I rather doubt that she is talking on a mobile phone that would not work or hailing a spaceship.
