  • you don't have to use a block heater but i do say it would be better on your motor if you let it warm up before driving it anywhere and that's what a block heater does

  • @LifEndsQuick yea, and most ppl just there car, truck, dirtbike, atv and just ride. which when i see that i wanna kick them in the nuts.... as long as you let it warm up you'll be all good.

  • I live in arkansas and I don't even use the choke on my mustang much less a block heater lol.

  • @ShepperdW i live in canada, it gets pretty cold, my choke wont work so i dont use mine either, your mustng aint EFI? what year?

  • Block heaters improve fuel economy as it gets the engine up to operating temperature much quicker, provides heat to the interior much faster and reduces engine wear. You don't NEED one but it doesn't hurt to have one and use it when required.

  • @silverboyzzz yes, but they don't do all that much. as you can see in my vid. my truck runns like a dream and it's a 82, its never had one... nver will. semi's and cats yea i can see, but automotive. not so much. so idk... some ppl will disagree, but i know lots of meachanics who agree with me.

  • block heaters are designed to keep an engine luke warm so u avoid the cold start wear on an engine... i know people in alberta where the engine wouldnt even crank over because the battery is frozen aswell as the engine with a battery warmer and block heater it would start instantly

it may not destroy your engine imidiatly but in -20s and below it will over time

especially high pressure oil fired psd oils to thick to start easily

  • 2:45 sounds sweet!

  • you can damage your engine without a block heater if you dont let it warm up that is all and a block heater is better for diesels so the fuel doesnt jell up and make it hard to start up and i am thinking of a block heater that heats the engine and warms up the trans a little to on cold days it is really hard to shift into 3rd and i dont like putting my engine at high rpms during the cold

  • I have a block heater on my Suburban. Its a 1998 Suburban n allways started fine here in the SD winters without it pluged in, I have a remote starter though n start it 15 mins before i take off. And it dont seem like it makes much difference when i have it pluged in. Only prob is that the damn thing is leaking on me now so gonna replace it yay. I think its just a personal choice to have one or not.

  • 61,400 or 161,400, that is the question...

  • The less time there is oil in your rod and main bearings the harder it is on your engince.... The colder it is the thicker the oil and the less movement your oil pump will do... So yes many vehicles will start without a block heater... yes it is better for them to be closer to temp... another reason is metal expands and contracts according to temp... same reason you would "blueprint and Balance" a block is the same reason you would want your engine warm.. also gas savings of preheating!

  • whats with the shit comming out of the exaust lol

  • @LifEndsQuick But arent they recommended for diesel engines???

  • well, i had a nissan. it started in -40. for 1 minute it ran. then it stopped. topend seized. oil could not get to the top. replaced the head. no oil pump replacement. motor ran for another 150,000kms before i sold it that way. -18 all my vehicles get plugged in. long term if you plug it in then motor will last longer. most engine wear is at start up. any way you can get oil to flow faster on a cold start the better in winter. i use synthetic in winter now too.

  • Sweett truck !! Sounds awesome. :)
