I was fooled by this mock viper snake I found at a Buddhist temple. I was pretty sure it was a juvenile Malayan Pit Viper. I had never seen the juvi Malayans but I figured it must be this.

I was way off. This is a mock viper Psammodynastes pulverulentus, also known as: Dusky Mock Viper, Common Mock Viper.

Thesea re venomous snakes, but not going to kill you. Their venom is rather weak and ineffectual with humans. This one wasn't a biter really anyway, I think they have a pretty laid back disposition.

I found this one eating a Skink - well, having just barfed it up because some tourists were poking it with a stick.

Beautiful Thailand snake!

  • I once trapped a snake eating an other snake but I guess I scared him so he threw up the other snake and they BOTH "ran" off

  • @racenemo lol - in Thailand? Wonder if that was a king cobra eating the other snake? Yes?

  • I'm amazed it didn't try and bite people for poking at it, not a very nice thing to do, especially when it's having dinner! It's amazing to see all the spiders, snakes, lizards etc that are in Thailand. Do the Buddhists let people walk in to their temples or are they all closed up? What is Thailand like for crime? Is it just the same as anywhere else? It looks like a country that has everything people could ever want all in one place.

  • @urbex2007 Yes, you can walk all over the Buddhist temples. Here's a site I did about this temple: (google "wat tum sua". Thailand is great for crime, you won't often get caught! No, Thailand is really good for committing crimes... Yes, Thailand is quite cool, a million things to do and experience. I've been here 6 yrs. I've experienced a lot - but there is SO much more to do.
