I saw a thing on a "Holy Highway" the other day on CNN, I checked it out and was disappointed in how crazy people are when they take verses out of context. A group of Christians is praying up and down I-35 because of what they read in Isaiah 35:8.

NOTE: I am not saying that its a bad idea to go talk and pray with people. I am simply saying that one should always consider context in the situation.

  • Did you record this while taking a wee? I mean NOT to be rude but that is what is sounds like. Strange water noise.

  • its my fish tank in the back. I sometimes forget to turn it off while making videos. It always gets a mention :)

  • I go to that church. It's called Heartland and it's in Dallas. Just FYI, the church and pastors do not believe that Isaiah 35:8 is referring to I-35 highway. They just think that it is a neat coincidence. The pastor cleared that up immediately. Media spins things the way they want to. Just thought you would like to know. :)

  • Sorry about my misunderstanding. I think its great that you guys are talking to people about Jesus. I just have a problem anytime someone takes a verse out of context to promote anytime of campaign (prayer, mission trip, etc.) It just seems as if one should do things because of the love of God (which I believe you all are doing) without having to have a verse (coincidence or not) to push the idea.

    Have a nice day!

  • I live about 5 miles from 35W in Fort Worth. I hate to tell everyone this, but the strip clubs along the highway south of I-20 are still going strong. I guess they need to pray harder!

  • yah i go to heartland world ministries church

and i think that you can say what you like maybe you should go to Hearland on sunday mornings and see what is happening there

    we will pray for you

  • I totally agree w' you! Good rant.

  • Nice rant. BTW judgment must come before a highway of holiness.

    What kind of judgment?

Isaiah 34:2-3 "The LORD is angry with all nations; his wrath is upon all their armies.

He will totally destroy them, he will give them over to slaughter. Their slain will be thrown out, their dead bodies will send up a stench; the mountains will be soaked with their blood."

    context, context, context

    ;)

  • we will be praying for you!!!

  • Insane false Christian sects! Thank God I am a Mormon and a true Christian!

  • I'm not sure about the biblical references, but I have noticed the historical tragedies on I-35 for many years now. I recently completed a documentary "I-35: Heartbreak and Healing on an American Highway". You can watch the trailer on YouTube: Drive Down 35. Look for it at the Dallas Film Festival. Bert Leahy
