"Mirror lockup is used to prevent the camera from shaking when the pic is taken" -- but then when MLU is enabled.. u have to click the shutter release button twice.. wont the camera shake when u click it the second time?
@lbguides I disagree. Using a timer will still reflect vibrations from mirror shift. The only movement a remote/release cable will prevent is the shake caused from pressing the shutter button.
When you press this button (remote or manual) the mirror shuts upwards exposing the frame and this causes vibrations which can impact the quality of your photo. Mirror lock up moves the mirror out of the way first before the image is captured on the sensor, therefore reducing moving parts/vibrations.
@shinju77 I think there was a misunderstanding. I agree with everything you say. However, I think what apotia007 was saying is that it's senseless to use the MLU function to reduce shaking only to click the shutter button a second time thereby reintroducing even more camera shake. What I was trying to say was that for the best result, you would have to use both the MLU function and either the remote or self-timer. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for your well articulated response.

@apotla007, You're absolutely right. To avoid shaking the camera, you should use either the two second timer or better yet, the remote release cable.
