Raw footage from my first turn on the M74 north-eastern extension, a few minutes after it opened (a little late) at 19:30 on Tuesday 28 June 2011. Heading eastbound from just west of the new junction at Tradeston and the Kingston Bridge as far as the Fullerton junction with the existing M74 stub. Sorry about the mobile phone interference.
The 8km motorway has cost an estimated £692,000,000, or about £90,000 per meter. It cuts through some of the poorest neighbourhoods in Glasgow, which (coincidentally) have some of the lowest levels of car ownership in the entire country.
