@ShynAwkward i agree with you but on the other end...i have a GT-10 and i dont see how the VG-99 is much of an advancement either. I think these would be good for studio. Possibly more for electronic music but for other types of music i beleive or GT's are good, and i couldn't ask more to play live.

Dear Nevadamusicuk, I have a V-bass for 3 years now, and I can't hear any kind of changes in the samples.. I mean, the realistic of the sound, when you switch it to string instrument..
It seems like not even better the bass synth sound. All the same japanese joke :)
Most frequently question to me is the doublebass modell: the v-bass can't produce the accoustis and the fretless sound in the same time. Can the vb99 do this?
