i'll never forget the morning my mom served me breakfast, the morning after robert kennedy had been shot...she was crying as she served me my breakfast. we watched the news that morning. we lived in los angeles at the time. he would have been a great president. sirhan, sirhan made a very big move on american history that night.
its too bad andy has his own tragedy in his life. he stood by his exwife and i applaud him for that. as ronald reagan said about andy williams, he is an american treasure.
Yes I heard Andy being interviewed on BBC radio last year, and I understand that he and Bobby and Ethel Kennedy were friends. This is an excellent interpretation of the song.
@grindlbebe Nice to see you see through politics to enjoy a good song. More people should.

I didn't know he sung this. I know he's a right winger, but this is lovely.

Now that I didn't know. Thanks for the info. The assassination of RFK was one of the saddest chapters in our nation's history.

@professor501
I believe he never sang it again in public after that sad occasion.

Andy sang the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" at Bobby's funeral too. That could not have been easy for him to do.

the hat Andy Williams has on looks like the one Paul "Bear" Bryant wore.

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, simple and tragic.
