@mickeymoose76 Mercedes Vs. Lada and FSO are different classes of cars so comparing them is pointless.
Your way with us in Poland 125p FSO, Polonez experiencing a renaissance and are very sought after Youngtimer's.
If I made a mistake in the commentary are very sorry, but in writing in English is not my good side. Regards from the birthplace of FSO.

I love my 1982 300 Turbo Diesel. The Buzer is still working and the car has 261,000 Miles and still running makes alot of noises but
she is so roted out that i can se the road in the back seat and water comes flying in the car when you drive in the rain. But I love her and I drive it all the fucking time

There´s no mistery about it. Only US diesel models were equipped with starting buzzers. In European Mercedes models this buzzer is only used to warn the driver that he left the lights on after taking out the key from the starter.

LOL Stupid buzzler for stupid Yenks (ma excusemec) to dont forget wait the cilinder heat-up! It seems u never see a diesel engine in a passanger-car!
-
yes it was only on U.S. models only. When the grey market imports were hot in the '80s, sometimes they were retrofitted with buzzers, but sometimes they weren't. My dad's grey market 500SL had two seperate buzzers retrofitted for some reason; one for the door jam and one for the seatbelt warning. I'm pretty sure that usually the two functions share the same buzzer.

Maybe it is a USA thing then. Learn something every day I guess.
