If one wants to be impartial one has to listen to the version sung by Ustad Barkat ali khan sahib and his desciple Ghulam Ali and the gold standard is sung by Bhimsen joshiji as a tribute to bade ghulam ali Khan sahib in His style! that shows the complete mastery over raag bhairavi which uses all the 7 pure notes!
a brilliant sufiana style rendering is also sung bu Abida Parveen with such stalwarts singing bharavi to praise Tahira Sayyed only exposes a subjective opinion

Hi, This thumri was initially popularised on AIR by Bade Ghulam Ali khan sahib in late 40s and early 50s!I am sure it is older than that probably 18 th or 19th century! It is sung in Raag Bhairavi! Latas version is in a film! No comparison with Lata ji ever possible in singing taan patterns and purity of swar laykari and vocal range! Tahira Sayyed just is able to carry the tune but she has neither the range nor riaz to perform a bhairavi thumri fully!

@Inaam2 Yeh Latta ki film ka copy nahin hai. Yeh Ghazal Pakistan bannay se bhi bohot purani hai is liye is lihaaz se na to yeh Pakistani hai aur na hi Indian. Aur meray lihaaz se to Tahira Syed ne bohot acha gay hai issay... Lata se bhi zyada acha!!! Aap Lata ko sun ke sawab kama lain. Had hogayi.
