Värttinä and Zeca Baleiro - Maamo

I hope you appreciate Zeca's effort to sing in Finnish. It's said that he practised a lot in preparation for doing this. And, being honest, I think he did well, didn't he?

Zeca has been one of the most creative composers of Brazilian pop music for the last ten years. I added to My Favourites some videos of Ceumar, a very good singer. In one of them, she sings 'Cantiga', a beautiful song of Zeca's (among the musicians who play with her, pay attention to percusionist Gigante - he's awesome!!! I love him !!!...). Take a look! Bem, respondendo suas perguntas, o nome da banda é Värttinä (pronuncia-se algo como "vértinâ"), banda finlandesa que faz uma música baseada em temas tradicionais de seu país.

Esse show foi no festival Todos os Cantos do Mundo, em São Paulo, em novembro de 2001. Zeca se apresentou primeiro e convidou as cantoras da banda para cantarem juntos "Mamâe Oxum". Depois, no show deles, Zeca foi convidado para cantar a cançâo deste vídeo. É uma tradição desse festival ...

Infelizmente não tenho o vídeo de "Mamãe Oxum". O programa com o show do Zeca tinha passado na semana anterior (janeiro de 2002).

Zeca does pretty well. Suomi, escpecially Carelian dialekt, isn't the easiest language to learn nor to speak. I was thrilled to hear double consonants and right pushes in right places of the word.
