hmm?i don't get what you're saying. "LACK of open prairie grasslands" (meaning not enough open prairie/too many trees and "deforestation" (meaning not enough trees) are opposite terms. Anyway, I don't think it was a lack of trees that caused this. We had a huge amount of snow that had just melted, and a week's worth of extreme amounts of rain, followed by Sailorville lake overflowing.
All I was thinking of is how the little slope from the house down to the creek really helped keep your house safe. The neighbor really should build a berm 2 feet high to prevent a future issue.

to me it looked like where the creek was to go under the street the pipe or tunnle was cloged. And the creek simply went around that part..
