When a person "detaches with love" they have God in their heart and mind--this means it is God working through that spouse. No one would be able to detach with love if God was not working within them...God works in mysterious ways to encourage, heal and inspire people. God's wisdom works through people and that includes spouses of alcoholics. Marriage is a sacred union and has been instituted by God through the good times and the "BAD" times such as a spouse with alcoholism.

1:50 nope, it is not the responsiblity of the spouse to do that thing he says. "detachment with love" . In fact it counter intuitive to think that anyone, other than God can help; so, therefore, get a divorce from such a spouse and wait till that person is better, on their own. Don't do anything dependant on the alcoholic. The alcoholic will have psychological problems under the alcoholism and they also ought to be left to the professionals to cure. . Pathetic. .
