i got a windows vista home basic, i'm using it right now! Such a good OS :)

I have to admit I was a fan of Vista in the past but since using the first Windows 7 beta I haven't looked back. Hands down, 7 is definitely the best Windows OS out right now.

@dimre01 agreed, but i dont have enough ram to upgrade, i have more than it comes with Because the ram has been upgraded from 512mb to 768mb, still not enough.

That's not true; Win 7 uses less resources and runs faster than Vista. My old 768MB RAM laptop initially came with Vista, but after installing 7 in the place of it, I noticed a 2 - 3x speed increase and older programs that weren't compatible with Vista ran like a charm on it.

Windows Vista Basic is much lighter than premium.

Yep, I agree; however, if you're looking to upgrade to a newer version of Windows, do yourself a favor by going out and buying Windows 7. It's way faster than any edition of Vista (and even XP!) and all the small tweaks it has really add up to something.

i had xp then i upgraded to home basic. and my computer has one gig and its lighting fast. my other computer has 8 gigs of ram! *FAST* lol

@MarksterTutorials You can edit the Windows 7 installation DVD to install with less than 1gb ram, but its a bit laggy with 512mb ram =)

In vista series home basic is faster.Dont have lag.Dont have unrequired thingies.So best.

@MarksterTutorials you can install 7 on 512 and it will run faster than vista i have done it

I hate Basic, it sucks, i want ultimate :( But i dont wanna pay 4 it, anyone know any links how to get it FREE! and not loose all your data??

I really like the new Windows Media player! When I listen to my music and watch movies I put it on full screen! I really like the internet radio on there! The stations come in way better than on my boombox!

I really like Windows Vista! It's a nice looking operating system! I like how the login screen looks in Windows Vista. Is Windows 7 home basic better?  Vista seems to load as slow as XP. I think I'm gonna stick with Vista for now just to be on the safe side. I don't want to mess anything up. Windows Vista looks like 7 almost.
