Carey Beebe papering of the case rim of a Flemish-style harpsichord.

The papers have been trimmed and are ready for fitting. Each paper is cut and glued in turn. To determine the exact height, the paper is flipped. It can then be easily marked with the knife, allowing a little for height expansion when wetted with glue. The trimming is done on a cutting board, and both sides of the paper brushed with glue.

The paper is slid into position and excess glue is removed from the surface of the paper with a damp rag. The overall effect is seen in a pan of the case rim.

The next day when the papers are dry, various cutouts for the jackrail and stop levers can be made. Nothing goes on top of the papers.
