Did you know that one third of the human food supply depends on insect pollination and most of this is accomplished by Bees?

Join us as we visit a Sonoma County Beekeeper and honey producer, Arrowsmith Farms. We take an exciting look into a bee hive to learn how a bee colony evolves and how honey is produced.

An interesting fact is that a honeybee queen may lay 2000 eggs per day during spring buildup, but she also must lay 1000-1500 eggs per day during the foraging season, simply to replace the casualties.

Talking about being, Busy as a Bee!

Be sure to visit Arrowsmith Farms' booth at both the Marin and Sonoma Farmer's markets.

Just as stronger mights appeared, so will stronger honey bees.

  • I used to have 45 collonies,,,Now all Gone,,huhuhuhu...When I have money..I ll start again..

  • how does she know how much the bees need and i don't think she know much about bees but once again hooray bees

  • how do you tell where the brood bees are when they are caped or is there a certian time of year to collect honey

  • WOW! This is very educational. I think most of the missing bees are congregated in my back yard on an unending family reunion.

  • A big reason honey bees are dieing in big numbers are because mites have become immune to diseases and environment that used to kill them. These mites attack the bees larvae and in time kill the whole colony. Bees used to be able to defend against these mites but because of pesticides and human involvement, mites are now stronger. Honey bees now can't live naturally. A naturally hive (like in a tree) will die within 3 years because of the mites. Im a beekeeper... its quite sad

  • Save the bees!

  • Look up Chem trails.

  • When I was 20 i was attacked by thousands. I was about 100 yards from 30 hives that had just recently been upset by their keeper. I was wearing dark clothes, and had a little cologne on. Not counting the stingers I manged to knock or scrape out, the doctor counted 170+ stingers in my head neck ears etc...

This spring i will begin raising 5 hives and any swarms my brother in law and I can collect.
