Unfortunately this car doesn't get anywhere near 70 mpg ever. It does get a good 40 mpg in the city though. I own one and have done extensive testing. The main thing you need to realize is that even though the speedometer says Miles per hour, the odometer increments in Kilometers.

This vehicle may get 70 mpg, but since it classifies as a motorcycle, it is exempt from emissions testing.  Therefore, it doesn't have a catalytic converter or oxygen sensors. This in turn means a vehicle that may get 16 MPG, such as a Ford F-150, would actually be better for the environment because of the lower amounts of carbon dioxide. Sorry chief, the Earth isn't doomed with people who buy "inefficient" vehicles.
