Altiport Alpe d'Huez (France), February 2008.
Aircraft : Jodel D140, with skis and wheels, 180 hp fixed pitch propeller.
Runway : 450 x 40 m covered with snow, slope : 10.5 to 16 %, mean 13%.
Runway elevation : low 5940 ft, high 6100 ft.

Alpe d'Huez is one of the main skiing station in the French Alps.

Pilots need to hold a special qualification to use the so-called "altiports".

    This is absolutly not dangerous in slow wind: the runway climb, so the aproach must be a bit faster than normal, but the airplane stops fast: realy easy in this conditions...UL pilots take this without training!
