The Temple of Heaven is located in southeast Beijing and was completed in 1420 in the reign of the Emperor Yong Lo, who made Beijing the Capital of China. It consists of a complex of buildings. It has been expanded over the years by two Quing Dynasty Emperors.The Hall of Prayers for Good Harvests is a world symbol for Beijing. No nails or pegs were used in its construction. Ming and Quing Emperors travelled each year from the Forbidden City to the Temple on the winter solstice to pray for good harvests.In its park one can watch the elderly people doing their early morning excercises or dancing, playing cards, etc.
