A cell phone does up the transmitter power automatically to remain connected, but that applies to all cell phones. I think it's more likely that it's the antenna is detuned by hand capacitance slightly, so no worse than moving to a lower signal area.

I would be more worried about Apple knowingly manufacturing phones with the use of conflict minerals than some bullshit radiation.

No its not trying to compensate. think of it this way, you have an antenna tv when you touch the antenna the signal gets stronger when you let go the sig gets weaker... now you have to be really stupid for me to need to tell you whats happening..... whats happening it your body becomes part of the antenna
