Tenko and the Guardians of the Magic was a cartoon show from Japan produced by Saban that centered around the fictional adventures of real-life magician Princess Tenko a.k.a. Mariko Itakura. After each episode, she would appear in the flesh to perform an illusion or do her "Teach-A-Trick", a segment that teaches the audience a simple magic trick they could perform at home. The show failed to attract an audience and production was cancelled after one season, which ran from 1995-1996.

Wow glad i found this, ive been trying to figure what this show was for a long time. I remembered it but could never find out its name and the premise kept taking me to the jewel riders because of the gem based plot :D.

it wasnt from japan, it was animated in japan like ninja turtles adn muppet babies. it was still an american series...the animation will tell you that. she was a famed japanese magician at the the time that just started to get noticed in america but sadly faded away ... just like the rumors that she met kim jong il
