http://CloseQuartersCombat.com - In a close quarters battle home invasion or self defense against a gun fight scenario, firearm retention is critical. Don't try to wrestle an attacker for the gun. Use this simple firearms training retention trick.

  • What if he drops with you?

  • @Anandfulness - You'll get blood on you. ;-) Wash it off after the police and the coroner have left.

  • @cqctraining No I mean, what if he falls with you and keeps controlling the gun? Your technique goes from the assumption that he will not stick with you but try to keep himself upright.

  • @Anandfulness - Ahhhhh, got it! Give the retention technique a try. You'll find that the gun almost instantly lines up perfectly with your attacker in your line of fire. In addition, it's the body's natural instinct to do the opposite of what your being forced to do. So if someone pulls an object away from you, you naturally try to pull back, not go with the flow. Especially in a street fight situation, your attacker will be held hostage to instinct and try to pull back in response.

  • @cqctraining even if he falls he falls on the gun and if he gets the gun to the side use the hammer tech. on the back of his neck

  • yoo hes quite henchh!!!

  • But What if when you drops down he drags the gun over his head and kick you in the Face??

  • the opposit of that maneuver is when he has the gun@yu deflect@ grab the barrel,YOU MUST PUSH THE GUN INTO THE STOMACH, AND LOCK YOUR ARM in case he drops.if he does go with him.result is he's on his back; @you're on top with the gun pointing to the side.the point is go with him.

  • @AngelWink01 you should have shot your gun by then!

  • what if u fall and he goes 2 the side and kick u

  • Nice technique. While firearm training (airsoft force on force) @ close contact distance we blade & shoot from the retention position so I never considered the need to have to wrestle for control of my firearm. HOWEVER U NEVER KNOW WHEN MURPHY WILL ARRIVE, so this is something I will work on. If a stronger attacker falls on top of u & is able to keep the weapon pointed away from him, u better empty the mag & start biting while u go for a back up weapon. I CCW in a bag that carries all my tools.

  • @Anandfulness Yeah your right, but most people without a ground fighting background, in my experience, wont want to go to ground at all so that could guide their initial response, giving you time to take them out. But of course if he does come down with you that will definately shorten the time you have to fire, so you'd have to be on the ball and have trained this a bit in scenario. If you remember, let me know how your testing goes, my crash test dummy is awol atm :)

  • @ToraJutsu01 Yes, I was just wondering because it looked to me that your opponent has to be willing to stay on his feet, in order for this technique to work. I haven't tested it yet, I will soon though.
