Even if The Beatles were falling apart, the music kept them together...

I don't think this album showed unity at all. It showed eachothers inner self imo. But it definitely is probably in my top 3 beatles albums.

@MovieMaker484 Paul admitted that John was the leader of the group. But without Paul, George, John, and Ringo, there wouldn't be the Beatles. So I think it doesn't really matter.. But if I had to pick, it would definitely be John. :)

Who do you think was the leader? John or Paul. I think John because he started the group, and sings the most. Although Paul did blackbird and yesterday

I think what ringo means is that he finally got to sit behind a drum set again with all the other guys playing like a band, in stead of doing over dubs and playing auxillary percussion all the time.

@Verdoux007 that's what I always heard
This was a very diverse record. It gets panned by the critics but I think there are alot of true classics on it.

Ringo's comments about "being more of a band again," as been suggested, was in reference to the album's production. They relied less on the excesses of the previous year (orchestras, exotic instruments, etc.) and went back to their roots as a rock group.
On the "Anthology" documentary, Ringo says how he "quit" the group during a rough period, but after the differences were seemingly settled for the moment, the sessions were more enjoyable. It's here where he says "I loved the White Album."
