Here's a demo of my 120VAC Simplex 4050 vibratory horn. These horns were commonly used as fire alarms in Simplex systems in the late 60's early 70s I believe. There was also a 24VDC verson called the 4051 which had a mid toned buzz. I suspect my 4050 had to do be used in a fire because the ID tag is tinted like as if it was either smoked damaged or very slightly scorched (the tags are usually silverish/gray in color it's not melted at all) This horn was originaly made by Faraday.

  • @TheChuckk that's a horrible thing to do to your granny. show some respect to your elders.

  • This is the perfect companion to watching "Maury" and the baby mama drama, when the ho' gets a free opportunity to rag on the alleged father, only to have the DNA test reveal that he IS NOT THE FATHER.

  • Our school has mostly 4050's they make me jump out of my chair

  • The 4040s and 4050s had to be the most common vibrahorn signals used as fire alarms in elementary schools. They scared the bejeezes out of us whenever they went off for a fire drill during my years attending grade school in Acton, MA, which had the 4040s, back in the late 60s and early 70s and they were extremely LOUD! Our school was also notorious for students setting off false fire alarms.

  • I love these old horns.

  • @Federal3t22 His name is spelled "Donny".

  • i have a 4050 and i will be getting a 4051 soon

  • Sound like a score board.

In fact, these horns are commonly used for score boards.

  • @SpecializedChild462 These are on par with a Vibratone 350 when set to max volume, 100db @ 10ft. I have it set to about 90-95db right now, same as it was in the video.

  • @MW2fatcats Usually around 90

  • Dude, these were installed in my elementary school, and I used to shit my pants.

  • How loud are these in dB?
