Maybe 'personalized radio' is a better term, but I think they mean, essentially, the same thing: A service that looks for music you might like. Pandora, I heart Radio, Last.fm and stuff like that are tailored to your tastes with the goal of introducing you to new music. That's great, it really is. I was just surprised at how many people came across this band that way. I actually found them while looking for a video by The Format. Bought their first album right after that.
